The Ride to Conquer Cancer

Thank You For Raising Big

National Steel Car Limited,

On behalf of The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation, I would like to thank you for playing a major role in this year’s success of the 11th annual Enbridge Ride® to Conquer Cancer®. With your incredible fundraising and support we collectively raised over $18.3 million, making our 11 year total an incredible $194 million! These essential funds fuel innovation and help us improve the standards of care not only for those in Ontario, but for all those afflicted with cancer around the world.

This year’s Ride success would not have been possible without the generous support of our Title Sponsor, Enbridge, and Breakaway Partners, Dilawri, KPMG, McCarthy Tétrault and RBC. Sponsorship dollars enable The Princess Margaret to invest more of the funds raised through The Ride into core cancer programs and we are grateful to all of our sponsors for their continued support.

A big thank you to our donors, volunteers, crew members and to all participants, who embarked on the two-day, 200+ kilometre journey. We continue to Ride for those we have lost to cancer, those who are battling and those who have been touched by the disease.

There were a number of memorable moments from this past weekend, which included but not limited to, a plane flying over the Toronto opening ceremony announcing the incredible $18.3 million raised, participant David Marchione winning the AirSprint NYC private jet experience, the band Wintersleep performing at camp and participant Nicholas Fidei raising an individual fundraising record of $311,000. We also heard some incredible stories, including the story from cancer survivor, Lauren Craig. Lauren knows first-hand that funds raised through the Ride continue to save countless lives, including her own.

“I was 22 years old when I was diagnosed with stage two Hodgkins Lymphoma. Only 990 people in Canada were diagnosed with this type of cancer in 2017 and I certainly never expected to be one of them. My world was turned upside down and it was extremely hard to process that I had cancer, especially at such a young age. It was a hard journey, through chemotherapy and radiation, but I always knew I was in amazing hands. Thanks to incredible doctors, nurses and technicians at The Princess Margaret, I am a year out of treatment and I am so grateful of their empathy and positivity that got me through it all.

I am thankful of The Princess Margaret and all of you, who worked so hard to raise crucial funds and rode the distance to support cancer patients and survivors.” — Lauren Craig.

Join us in 2019 for the 12th annual Ride by registering today for $25 using promo RIDE19 at www.conquercancer.ca or by calling [877] 699-BIKE [2453].

Through your generous support, we are getting closer to conquering cancer in our lifetime.
